Meet the Florist:

Vanessa Diaz, an LA Latina native, moved to San Francisco in late 2012 to pursue a degree in Zoology. Upon graduating and receiving her bachelor's of science, life unexpectedly changed when an opportunity came up to design weekly flower arrangements for a restaurant downtown. What began as a hobby, quickly and serendipitously grew into a promising career.

Unwritten Florals is the culmination of Vanessa's affinity for flora and fauna through a biological lens, as well as the sacred techniques picked up along the way while navigating through the floral industry. Nothing moves her more than being able to tell the stories of love and life by way of movement, gesture, color, and shared environments.

Accepting and engaging with the fleeting nature of life allows Vanessa to design with a sense of patience, free-spiritedness, and expressive appreciation for flowers.

Latest life and business update: We opened up a shop! Jeff, my partner and I have opened up the first joint barbershop and floral studio in the Outer Sunset. This space not only houses all of Unwritten’s creations, but it also functions as a barbershop from 10am-7pm, Wed-Sunday for anyone interested in a shorter style haircut. We are so grateful to be apart of this community that we’ve called home to for over 7 years.

“Her designs are incredibly unique and organic; I can always tell when an arrangement or bouquet is made by her because of her distinct, beautiful style. She is a true artist, creating magic every single time. She is a complete joy to work with and I can't recommend her enough!”

The act of arranging flowers is an ancient practice and it’s no surprise how emotive and captivating they can be. I’m here to be the translator, the connector of your story, my story, and Mother Nature’s.
